UNHCR believes Thailand will respond soon to a request for access to detained Rohingya boat people. They need access to the Rohingya to complete a fact-finding mission to find out who they are, where they come from, and what their protection needs are. A senior Burmese official recently denied that the Rohingya are from Burma, saying "It's not our problem. It's the problem of Bangladesh."
